Friday August 17th - Today is the day in the city and an evening Rehearsal Dinner

. After
some store browsing at Clackamas Town Center Mall, Paul Roach, Minsuk and I meet Pat Roach
for lunch at the food court. We rode the bus light rail to Pioneer Courthouse Square downtown
and the streetcar to the Portland Aerial Tram. View from Tram was worth the trip downtown.

Day in Portland

Clackamas Town Center Mall
This morning after breakfast at the South Portland Days Inn, Paul Roach, Minsuk and I walked across
I-205 west to Clackamas Town Center Mall. Here (The Westroads of south Portland) we visited several
stores including Mary's Furniture Store Grand Opening. When Pat arrived, we had a early lunch at the
Panda Express in the food court.

MAX Light Rail West

to Downtown
After a long bus ride north on route 71 from Clackamas Town Center Mall,
my friends and I rode the Red Line west from the 60th Avenue Station*
to the Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland.

Pioneer Courthouse Square
It is block size festival area in the center of downtown Portland similar to Lewis & Clark landing in Omaha.
Here we made a stop at the Portland Visitor Center, explored the square and each had a hotdog or two.

Mall Max Line Construction

After visiting the Pioneer Courthouse Square, I viewed the construction of new
Mall Max Line, on the east side of Square, than walked a few blocks west to
to catch the Streetcar.

Portland Streetcars South

We rode the streetcar South from the Max Line to South Riverfront Terminal
of the Portland Aerial Tram, passing Through Portland State University (PSU)

Portland Aerial Tram
We rode the Aerial Tram to the Kholer Pavilion Terminal on Oregon Health & Science University's
Marquarm Hill Campus and back. The fantastical views of Portland is worth hour+ ride to downtown,
on Tri-Met bus, Max Line and Streetcars. I missed the free ride on Aerial Tram by one day.

MAX Light Rail East

from Downtown
After the fun ride on the Portland Aerial Tram, and trip north on the Streetcar,
we rode the Airport/Red Line east to 82nd Ave station*. Next we rode the
Route 72 bus back to Clackamas Town Center Mall.

Rehearsal Dinner

After a stop at Pat’s Apartment and his lady friend, Roberta Greer Home, every one attends the
Rehearsal Dinner @ La Carreta Mexican Restaurant – South of Center city, across the street east
of the Willamette River. The Mexican buffet was non-spicy. I enjoyed visiting with Pat & Roberta
family, including John Roach.
