Downtown, Fort & Food

Saturday August 25th, 2012 - After Today's tour of Burwell and Calamus Reservoir,
 Late Afternoon, we visited Burwell Veteran’s Park in Downtown Burwell and
 Hartsuff State Historic Park. The day ended with Dwaine Birch & Wife for a
 Steak diner at the Country Neighbor and ice cream at the Hub soda fountain.

  Unlike veteran memorials I saw on the way to Burwell, this one knowable God  & Faith, The brick memorial wall
  in back is unfinished. The photos go clockwise around the park, starting on left side of sidewalk.

Fort Hartsuff State Historic Park.
   After a short stop at Hugh & Brenda Holmquist’s Home, we spend an hour at Fort touring the
   grounds (counterclockwise) of Hartsuff State Historical Park, near Elyria Nebraska.

Time with Dwaine & Stephanie Birch

Dwaine is the lawyer in Burwell and know me from University of Nebraska at Lincoln back in mid-1980’s

The Country Neighbor Restaurant
  Dwaine & Stephanie Birch joined Hugh & Brenda Holmquist, Mike and I for 6:30 dinner at The Country
  NeighborRestaurant, Just south of Fort Hartsuff. I had a steak Dinner. This restaurant and store is in a
  formerSchoolhouse. It was use as school from 1870s until 1957.

Ice Cream at the HUB
 The evening out ended with Ice Cream and conversation at the HUB’s soda fountain & Store in downtown Burwell.
 The HUB Building was built in 1906 and is registered as a historic building. The owner share Historic Photos of the place.
